track quality in clubs

i've been told that for a song to sound good in a club it must be 320 kbps...... but then i was told cd quality is 192 kbps... can anyone shed some light on this?

Encoding software stands 192 kbps being CD quality as a reference standard for the average listener.
And actually it is enough for most commercial radio music, but it's insufficient in most cases for electronic music. That's why some people say that 320 is the only playable thing on big systems.
But it's pretty much up to the track. Some tracks seem to be get really degraded in terms of quality (most of these because of the complexity of the elements, or just for being badly/ackwardly produced), and some don't.

CDs are wave files at 1411kbps. So a lot hihger than even th largest MP3. 320 is best for Djing with, try to stick to it if you cfan, and avoid VBR. But in saying that lower bitrate is ok. You really gotta use your ears and judge how good aummat sounds. 192 is pretty low i wouldnt play a 192 track generally.

This is one of the major things that drives me crazy as i have some files that are low kbps which i know shouldnt play on big sound systems but have due to not havin a higher quality file, this being said the sound quality is good and has alot of depth to it still. I then have some files that are quite high but sound awful due to bad producing. So i would agree that you should train your ears to notice what is good or bad quality and use your own judgement. I did this by checking all my files listening to them first and then guessing which bit rate i thought it was and one day it all came together and i was able to distinguish between good and bad. Dont always trust the bit rate because some files of bad quality that are edited on wave programs for example can be then saved as 320 kbps which can be deceiving.

Yes, you are right. I use it and there is no problem regarding this. It is nice.
